FOTOGRAF MINDAUGAS KAVALIAUSKAS IN ZAGREB
On Friday, April 8, 2011 Photography department of Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb (Croatia) will be hosting a lecture of Lithuanian photographer, curator, director of Kaunas Photo festival Mindaugas Kavaliauskas. The lecture will take place at 11 AM, at Academy of Dramatic Art, Trg maršala Tita 5, Zagreb, ROOM 16 (in the basement). The guest lecturer will present his photographer's and curator's experience in the context of contemporary Lithuanian photography. After the lecture Mindaugas Kavaliauskas will be available to review portfolios of Croatian photographers from 5pm in Gallery ULUPUH, Tkalciceva 14. The event is free and open to public. Mindaugas Kavaliauskas is photographer, educator, publicist, publisher of photography and founder of Kaunas Photo festival (2004), based in Kaunas, Lithuania.
He has studied in Kaunas Photo Art School, Vytautas Magnus University Arts Faculty (Lithuania), Ecole Nationale de la Photographie (Arles, France), Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts (Paris, France), University of Lausanne (Switzerland), had an internship at Musee de l'…lysee (Lausanne, Switzerland). His photographic works have been exhibited in art and photography venues and festivals all over Europe, also in USA, China, Australia. Besides curating artistic programs of Kaunas Photo festival, Mindaugas Kavaliauskas has curated a number of projects for Photography festivals and is a frequent member of portfolio review expert panels in photo festivals in Europe, USA, Australia.
In 2004 he founded Kaunas Photo festival, the first and now longest running annual photo art festival in the Baltic states. August 23, 2011 will mark the opening of the 8th edition of Kaunas Photo festival, program of which will contain hundreds of international photographers, curators, experts of photography.
