EIN DER BEKANTESTEN KINDERBUCHILLUSTRATOREN LITAUENS ZU BESUCH IN ÖSTERREICH UND KROATIEN

Am 9. November 2010, Dienstag, um 18.00 Uhr sind alle kunstinteressierte Kinder und ihre Eltern zu einem kreativen Workshop zusammen mit einem der Renomiertesten Buchillustratoren Litauens, Autor und Grafiker Kęstutis Kasparavičius in der Litauischen Botschaft (Löwengasse 47/4, Wien) eingeladen. Es wird gemalt und ausgetauscht. Im Zeitraum von 10. bis zum 16. November wird der Künstler sein neu in die kroatische Sprache übersetztes Buch „Kurze Geschichte“ präsentieren und sich mit den jungen kroatischen Leser in Zagreb, Split, Varaždin und Karlovac treffen.

Kęstutis Kasparavičius (born June 1954) is a Lithuanian book illustrator of over 50 books, many of which have been translated and published in countries all over the world. Kasparavičius studied choir conducting at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art (1962–1972) and graphic design at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (1972–1981). His first book was published in 1984 and since then he has published over 50 books and been translated into 16 languages. He and his wife live with their four children near Vilnius, Lithuania.

Kestutis Kasparavicius was born in 1954 Aukstadvaris, Lithuania. In 1962- 1972 studied at M.K.Ciurlionis Art School, a choir conducting class. In 1972- 1981 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius, a graphic design class. Since 1984 he has been working as a children`s books illustrator and author and has completed 50 books. His works has published for various publishers from whole world. Kestutis Kasparavicius books were translated into 23 languages. In 1993 he was honored as Illustrator of the Year by Bologna Children`s Book Fair, 2003 Bologna Illustrators Exhibition Award for Excellence and his illustrations have selected for fair`s exhibition 13 times. Kestutis was also awarded the Golden Pen of Belgrade, 1990, the II Diploma Premi International Catalonia d`Illustracio, Barcelona, 1994, Diploma, Tallin Illustrations Triennial, 2006, Best Lithuanian Children`s Book, 2005,2007, 2008; Kęstutis was nominated for The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, 2005 and 2006 also for The Hans Christian Andersen Award, 2008 and 2010. Kestutis favorite technology is watercolour.
