DAS LITAUISCHE KAMMERORCHESTER IN KAMMERMUSIKFESTIVAL ZAGREB

Am 12. und 13. Oktober 2010 präsentierte das litauische Kammerorchester  unter der Leitung von  Sergej Krylov und unter der Mitwirkung der Solisten Jing Zhao (Cello), Susanna Yoko Henkel (Geige), Lauma Skride (Piano), Maksim Rysanov (Alt)  Werke von Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart und Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy im internationalen Kammermusik Festival Zagreb.

During five decades of its illustrious career, and especially since its debut in the ‘West’ in 1976, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (LCO) toured almost every European country, North and South Americas, Japan, Egypt, and the Republic of South Africa. Its diverse repertoire ranges from the works of Bach and Mozart to contemporary music: The LCO has given a number of world premieres of works written specially for the orchestra. The Orchestra was founded in 1960 by Saulius Sondeckis, who served as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor until 2004. In December 2008, the distinguished violinist Sergej Krylov has been appointed the Orchestra's Artistic Director and Principal Conductor.
A recent review of the Orchestra says: „Today it is on an up close to stratospheric!“ (Music and Life – Everywhere!). Among the musical greats they have repeatedly appeared with are Mstislav Rostropovitch, Gidon Kremer, Vladimir Spivakov, Igor Oistrakh, Yevgeny Kissin, David Geringas and Yehudi Menuhin.
