The Third mobile Lithuanian Artists‘ Association art collection
Lithuanian Artists‘ Association tradition to collect mobile “Lithuanian Contemporary Art “ collections has been existing for 7 years. The main accents of the third collection include the relationship between a creator and the state, also the development and urgent tendencies of the national fine arts and the part taken by the state supporting artists‘ creative work by various cultural programs.
In 2010, the Lithuanian Artists‘ Association celebrates it‘s 75th anniversary so it was decided to form the latest exhibition of the collection by including the creative work of those artists who were awarded with the prestigious awards and premiums after the independence of the state has been restored, such as Lithuanian National Culture and Art Premium, Culture and Art Premium of the Government, Cross of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas and other awards of the state. In 2001, the award of the Golden badges was established by the Lithuanian Artists‘ Association which is being presented to the artists for their exclusive creative activity.
It is obvious that the latest exhibition of the collection which includes creative works of painting, graphics, sculpture, textile and ceramics, embraces a very wide range. The exposition of the paintings is formed from the works of the Lithuanian classics of painting, also the representatives of the middle and the young generations. Diversity of Lithuanian painting represents expressionistic tendencies of all the Lithuanian fine arts of the XX-XI centuries, also the examples of abstract art and mixed techniques of painting such as assemblages, collages, distinctive concords of painting and graphics.
The collection of Lithuanian graphics exposes variety of techniques, plastic and style. Not only the most popular techniques of graphics can be recognized in these works, such as etching, aquatint, woodcut and linocut, but also some original technical experiments and expressive works of screen-print can be seen. These differences obviously prove the diversity of the expression of the Lithuanian graphic artists. Finally, this also demonstrates especially wide range of graphic pieces of art that covers from the chamber works to the monumental accents of interior.
Contemporary Lithuanian sculpture is presented by the artists of the middle and the young generations. Considerations of the existence and motives of the history of Lithuania arise in the works of the Lithuanian classics of sculpture and the pieces of the young generation reflect a playful, ironical treatment of traditional techniques, also variations of man‘s figure and unexpected solutions of plastic.
The art of textile that currently experiences a true revival of expression, subjects, techniques and artistic ideas, is going to be presented in the exhibition through the works of the famous Lithuanian textile artists who reflect technical experiments, classical techniques of textile, also abstract possibilities and interpretations of expression.
The works that are introduced in the collection of ceramics vary from traditional forms and techniques to the conceptual experiments.
Although the Lithuanian Artists‘ Association‘s exhibitions of the mobile art collections have already become a fine tradition of the artistic life in Lithuania, until now it was not common to arrange such expositions of the most prominent members of the institutions of art that have been awarded by the state. The variety of the generations, artistic expressions and stylistics allow viewers to perceive not only the tendencies of Lithuanian fine arts that were common for several recent decades but also to learn what were the evaluation criterions while decorating the professional artists with honorable awards of the state.
